Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 2

The football world is topsy turvy right now. We’re going to have to scan the waiver wire with a fine-toothed comb this season if Week 1 has been any indication. It goes without saying that Matt Asiata is the top pickup for this weekend. These are my dumpster darlings for Week 2:

Trashman 750

Latavius Murray RB, Raiders: MJD may never be the same again, and I trust Run DMC about as far as I can throw him. Murray will start being a contributor in the Raiders offense as early as this weekend, and he’s owned in under 5% of leagues.

Geno Smith QB, Jets: We’ve always had a soft spot in our hearts for Geno, and the fact that he completed 82% of his passes in Week 1 doesn’t hurt. He’s got a great matchup at Green Bay this week. He’s owned in 9% of leagues.

Larry Donnell TE, Giants: It seemed crazy to me to think that a no-name tight end would lead the Giants in receiving before Monday night, but there Donnell was in all his unheralded glory. I don’t think it was a fluke though. He’s just the type of big, comfy safety blanket Eli Manning needs and he showed sick hands on two consecutive end-zone corner fades, not being able to stay in bounds for the first but catching the second. He’s owned in 17% of leagues.

Niles Paul TE, Redskins: Jordan Reed seems snake bitten doesn’t he? He can’t help but get injures it seems. Niles Paul will fill in nicely as a compliment in this dink and dunk scheme the ‘Skins are using. He’s owned in only 2% of leagues.

Marqise Lee WR, Jaguars: A second consecutive week in the Garbage Grab for Lee! Allen Hurns had the amazing Week 1, but it was Lee who actually led the team in targets and receptions. He’ll be a solid start from here on, especially if Shorts can’t get his leg sorted out. He’s still inexplicably owned in only 13% of leagues.

Nate Washington WR, Titans: Things are going to get ugly against the Cowboys, and Normal (statistically) Nate will be big contributor. If there’s any week to play him it’s this one. He’s owned in only 5% of leagues.

Kenbrell Thompkins WR, Patriots: Second in targets only to Gronk in Week 1 with 10, Thompkins will factor into the game plan against Minnesota and beyond. I’m not terribly scared of Dobson just yet. Thompkins is owned in 12% of leagues.

Jonathan Stewart, Mike Tolbert RB, Panthers: With DeAngelo Williams looking like a no-go this weekend, I have to like Stewart, especially in PPR, and even Tolbert who could get a TD or two. Detriot is a tough team to run on, but Kelvin Benjamin will keep them honest.

  1. Im having a tough time deciding if I should drop antonio gates or heath miller for Larry donnell, btw I used your cheat sheet and won week one by 50 points thanks guys

  2. I would drop Miller of the two, and congrats! We’re glad it’s working out for you Graham.

  3. I need help with my (2) RB, (2) WR, & (1) flex starting lineup.

I’ve got Forte, Gore, Ellington, Harvin, and Patterson plugged in. With Andre Johnson, Vincent Jackson, & Kelvin Benjamin all on the bench. I’m probably going to need to trade some away very soon, or I’ll be bugging you guys every week.

    1. Forte, Ellington, Harvin, Patterson & Johnson.

  4. Format is ppr.

  5. I am starting at RB Moreno & Bernard
At WR – Jordy Nelson & Cordarrelle Patterson
    Flex – Andre Ellington

On my bench – Joique Bell, Jeremy Hill, Hyde, Keenan Allen, Edelman, T.Y Hilton, Maclin, Sanders

If Ellington is out, I’m leaning towards Sanders. I don’t like starting players against Seattle, sorry Keenan.

    What do you think?

    1. Standard Scoring.

    2. This looks right. Ellington should definitely be a go.

  6. 2 point PPR
I need two rbs, two wr and a flex
    RB-Doug Martin, Moreno, R Jennings,
WR- cooks, Benjamin, Cruz, Crabtree, K Wright

    1. Sorry I actually one need 1 rbs and 1 wr and 1 flex

    2. Sorry wrong info I only need 1 wideout and 1 running back and 1 flex

  7. Hey guys.. Am I dumb for starting Hyde along with Spiller? I also have Mathews, Bradshaw, and Hill.

    1. Not dumb at all, but Mathews will get more volume. Even though he’s up against Seattle, I go with him.

  8. Guys, love the site and sirius show: who do you like as the best value for the entire season as my WR 4/5:

Greg Jennings Jordan Mathews or Kenny stills?

    1. Jennings, especially in ppr.

  9. What do you guys think for WR3… Emmanuel Sanders or Justin Hunter? I was thinking of playing Sanders since Welker won’t be playing this week. But Hunter is going up against Dallas….

    1. Sanders, but it’s close.

  10. Im thinking of dropping MJD for Murray before Murray goes bonkers, 14 team, PPR league. Thoughts?

    1. I’m on board with that. MJD just doesn’t look the same.

  11. Do I drop Sproles for Latavius?

    1. Not yet, especially not in ppr leagues.

  12. Well I have AP and already started forsett so I need 2 of these: Martin, Gerhart, Ingram, Hyde or go to waiver wire for asiata, Bradshaw, Rainey or either Oakland rb?
    Thanks

  13. down south texas–tm name—crack smoking monkey——ppr-need2—edelman–sanders—v jackson–maclin
    ppr–need 1—edleman–j hunter
    ppr–nd1–r jennings or r mathews

    thxxxxx gurussssss

    1. hmmmm

    2. edelman, vjax, hunter, jennings

  14. Should I drop Kyle Rudolph for Dwayne Allen? Also need to choose between Stafford and Brady

    1. No, Rudolph’s just getting warmed up and doesn’t have competition like Allen does. Stafford, but it’s close.

  15. Am I crazy for wanting to start Shonn Greene over Doug Martin and Fred Jackson this week in a PPR? I’m looking for high ceiling/home run potential since my opponent has Foles/Demarius

    1. If you’re looking for home runs, greene is the last guy I’m looking at. Martin has the best shot in ppr.

  16. Love your show on XM. Wish it had a podcast. My question:

1pt PPR. Terrance West or Chris Ivory?

    1. West. Thanks for tuning in!

  17. Need 3 out of 6: Keenan Allen, Marques Colston, Trent Richardson, Steven Jackson, Shon Greene, Greg Jennings. 14 Team Standard Scoring. Thanks guys!!!

    1. allen colston greene, good luck

  18. Post By The_Based_Gruden

The_Based_Gruden is weak at TE would you take/play Antonio Gates or Niles Paul?? Thanks Guys.

    1. I’d play Gates, but I’m a decent human – Trashman would say Niles Paul and I’d listen to him. -ad

  19. Standard Scoring: For my WR3, Justin Hunter or Michael Crabtree? For my RB2, CJ Spiller or Shane Vereen. Thanks all.

    1. In standard Spiller and Hunter GL.

  20. PPR (full point) league: Rashad Jennings, Terrence West or Michael Floyd in the Flex? Thanks!!

  21. Need two .5 ppr. Bush, Greene, Asiata,

    1. Ugh, good player in bad matchup and bad players in good ones. We’ll say Bush and Greene GL

  22. Please help. Full point PPR. Reggie Bush or Zac Stacy? (I’m leaning Bush) C. Patterson or Roddy White? I’m nervous about White’s knee, but also concerned about “Revis Island”. Thanks.

    1. No Revis Island for Cordarrelle. They’re going to need to use him in all kinds of ways with AP out. We go Bush but hate him and Stacy this week. Hope for a big play. GL.

  23. Good Morning RosterWatch,
You guys were on fire yesterday on SXM87. I listened in the car on the way home from the Duck game in Eugene.

Team name: PowerDoppler. 10 team, 1pt PPR.

    I’m starting: J Edelman & K Benjamin.

    I need 2 please:
A Jeffery, TY Hilton, T Williams, K Allen, M Evans, or L Miller.

My lean is Hilton and Williams. (The Cowboy team total is high, so someone is going to score and collect yards.)

    Thank you.

    Best Wishes,

    Mike

    1. your team is having better luck than our college team here in Austin.
      Williams and Keenan Allen, GL.

      1. Alex, Thank you and good luck today.
Sorry about your Longhorns. I was rooting for them last night.

  24. Any idea on what Daddy Dearest is looking at in the way of suspension?

    1. I think the commish will use his right to discipline under the personal conduct policy like he did when Big Ben got too wooly with the college chicks down in VA. I would expect 6-8 games from him despite legal and/or Vikes recourse. GL.

  25. Standard scoring: in you flex this week would you play Kelvin Benjamin or Andre Elington?

  26. Would you not risk playing Brandon Marshall since he plays tonight? I can put in Kelvin Benjamin, Kendall Wright, or Keenan Allen? Also TE would you start M. Bennett or Delanie Walker? Thanks!!!!

  27. With drew stanton at qb do you downgrade Michael Floyd? Would you start Greg Jennings over him?

  28. 1 for my .5 ppr flex spot? West, Gerhart, Keenan, Shon, Golden or Fred Jax? THX!
