DECLASSIFIED: Quincy Enunwa Week 3 Fantasy Outlook vs. Chiefs

shabro headshotRosterWatch Nation, the Outlaw Jesse James got a touchdown last week and Tajae Sharpe had a nice Week 1. We’re 2 for 2 in DECLASSIFIED targets. Let’s go for three in a row this week.

The sun rises in the east, water is wet, and Sammy Watkins is hurt. Another prodigal talent that just can’t stay on the field. Corey Coleman will be out for an extended period with a broken hand. Golden Tate has — expectedly to RosterWatch Nation — been a major disappointment this year. And we’ll just hope Tavon Austin wasn’t a key part of your fantasy receiving corps. If you need some wide receiver or FLEX help I’ve got just the guy for you…

Jets WR Quincy Enunwa has become a fantasy darling since a surprising outburst in production in the first two weeks. The former sixth-rounder is making a name for himself as a unique piece of the Jets offense. Though I think Brandon Marshall will probably end up playing (man is he tough), I really like Quincy’s potential value this week.

Let’s take a look at the positives and negatives for Quincy Enunwa while considering his fantasy value in Week 3 versus the Kansas City Chiefs defense:

Positives

– Size and Physicality: He’s a big boy. At 6’2″ and 225 lbs he’s got the size to play outside and also bully back-seven players across the middle. He also is extremely physical with how he uses his body. No “looks like Tarzan plays like Jane” here. The fact that he’s a beastly run blocker means he’s going to continue to be an every down player. He’s going to get you some yards after contact also.

– Quarterback Play and Scheme: Is Fitzpatrick an elite QB? Not really. In fact, not at all. But he’s shown he can thrive in the right systems. He did well in Chan Gailey’s system in Buffalo and now his somewhat limited potential is being maximized by Gailey again in New York. Head coach Todd Bowles is also not putting handcuffs on this offense. Great for the team, great for the Jets’ players fantasy potential. This team is not afraid to throw down the field even though Fitzmagic doesn’t have a big arm.

– Opportunity: Enunwa has been a key part of the Jets offense even as the third receiver. He’s also been a pseudo tight end for them as Jace Amaro never turned into anything and Kellen Davis has never been a major part of the passing game sans one season in Chicago. Chan Gailey has apparently installed a number of plays where Quincy is the intended target. The attention received by Marshall and Eric Decker actually helps him quite a bit to get one-on-one coverage.

Negatives

– Route Running and Hands: He’s big, he’s strong, but he’s been a body catcher. Ryan Fitzpatrick has said that his hands catching has been much improved based on his offseason work. Additionally his route running was lackluster coming out of college but he seems to have taken a big leap forward this season.

– Matchup: I don’t think this is the Kansas City Chiefs defense we’re used to seeing but a secondary with Marcus Peters, Phillip Gaines, and Eric Berry in it worries me. It’s the sixth-worst matchup for WRs in Week 3 per RosterWatch’s proprietary algorithm for the Matchup Tool. On the plus side, the Chiefs pass rush has been severely handicapped without Justin Houston and I don’t know how much better it gets in Week 3.

– Matt Forte: This is a pretty limited weakness but this feels like it could be a big Matt Forte game. We could see Forte see some major action this week. Again, not a big negative, but it’s there to keep in mind.

DECLASSIFIED: Quincy Enunwa’s Week 3 Fantasy Outlook

The best part about Enunwa is that he’s got a pretty high floor right now. His game isn’t predicated on getting big-time separation and he’s going to be a major part of Gang Green’s offense whether Marshall is in the lineup or not.

He’s available in over 67% of redraft leagues. He’s got exceptionally good value for the rest of the season so get him now because I think he’ll be widely unavailable by Week 4. I think he’s a killer dynasty piece as well.

He’s $4800 in DraftKings this week. Not a minimum guy, but I like his value compared to receivers like a struggling Allen Hurns ($5200) against an improving Baltimore secondary or Emmanuel Sanders ($6000) up against a Bengals secondary who just put the kibosh on the incredible Antonio Brown, who is arguably the league’s best receiver. On FanDuel he’s $6000, again not the minimum but still some good value.

All factors considered, I would expect Quincy Enunwa to pull down 5 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 versus the Kansas City Chiefs!
