Fantasy Quick Hits: Week 2 – Britt, Ivory, Gore and More…
Quick Hits: Week 2
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com
Some brief takeaways from Week 2
– Patriots WR Aaron Dobson actually looks better than Kenbrell Thompkins in the long term, but neither are viable fantasy options right now.
– RB Brandon Bolden may supplant LaGarrette Blount as the number 2 back in New England as soon as he gets healthy. He’s worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.
– Jets RB Chris Ivory is running with intent. It’s good time to buy low on him.
– WR Stephen Hill drew 8 targets in week 2. He’s the most promising of the Jets receivers.
– Rams RB Daryl Richardson has done nothing to lay claim to the starting job in St. Louis. Isaiah Pead will get more playing time very soon.
– WR Chris Givens is still the best bet to lead to Rams in receiving, and will have sneaky value all season.
– The Falcons run game is lame behind Steven Jackson. Expect the Falcons to get even more pass heavy for as long as he’s out.
– Roddy White hasn’t missed a game in his career, but these decoy appearances aren’t fooling anyone. This high ankle sprain is lingering.
– Bills QB E. J. Manuel is the real McCoy. Don’t think about dropping him if you own him in keeper leagues.
– Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller can both be played on the same roster. The Bills run the ball that much/well.
– If the Panthers can’t get more vertical against the Giants in week 3, you have to begin to be concerned about Cam Newton’s value.
– DeAngelo Williams is fifth in yards thus far in the season. Enjoy it while it lasts.
– I thought Reggie Bush or Darren Sproles would leads backs in receiving this year. Matt Forte might top them both.
– Bears TE Martellus Bennett is a beast. The year of the tight end continues.
– Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson is starting to resemble Devin Hester and not in a good way. Hopefully they start to use him on something other than special teams on a regular basis.
– Minnesota TE Kyle Rudolph is too touchdown dependent. Expect an up and down season fantasy wise.
– Warts and all, RGIII is still a fantasy asset. You can’t not start him.
– Santana Moss, not Leonard Hankerson, is the second WR to own for Washington.
– You could have started only Packers as your receivers, and still won your league handily in week 2.
– If you own Eddie Lacy, James Starks needs to be your first waiver add this week.
– Miami TE Charles Clay, who would have thought? Oh yeah, I did.
– RB Lamar Miller owners can breathe a collective sigh of relief. He’s a real running back guys. David Wilson owners on the other hand…
– It’s safe to start Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw on a weekly basis now.
– DeMarco Murray has to run the ball more than 12 times in a game if the Cowboys want to win. Look for a more balanced attack in week 3.
– The key to a productive Dez Bryant is feeding him the ball EARLY and often.
– Chiefs QB Alex Smith is winning games, but he’s still a game manager, averaging just 5.7 yards per attempt.
– It might turn out to be a fluke, but Chargers WR Eddie Royal should be owned in all leagues until further notice. He could have a Brandon Lloyd 2010 type of season.
– Philip Rivers looks like his old self right now. He’s worth an add for owners of Cam Newton and the like.
– LeSean McCoy is the league leader in rushing and doesn’t look to relinquish that spot anytime soon.
– My prediction of DeSean Jackson having a career year is coming to fruition. Kudos to those who caught a whiff early.
– The Browns lack of usage of RB Trent Richardson is disconcerting. The return of WR Josh Gordon should open up the running game though.
– Believe the hype. TE Jordan Cameron is an every week starter.
– Ravens WR Torrey Smith has been underwhelming so far. Perhaps they will lean on him more with Ray Rice hurt.
– Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins should be added in all leagues, even if Andre Johnson returns this week.
– Ben Tate’s resurgence is more good news for Tate owners than it is bad news for Foster owners.
– More of the same for Titans WR Kenny Britt. What a waste.
– WR Kendall Wright is a better fit for the questionable arm of QB Jake Locker.
– Lions RB Joique Bell has standalone value and should be owned in all leagues.
– No Cardinals receiver gained over 40 yards in week 2, so don’t worry about Larry Fitzgerald’s stat line – worry about his offensive line.
– Things aren’t looking good for Josh Freeman in Tampa. It might be worth your while to sell high on Vincent Jackson before a QB switch takes place.
– Pierre Thomas outperformed Mark Ingram again, on fewer carries. Pick him up.
– Raiders RB Darren McFadden is fantastic when he’s healthy. Let’s hope he stays that way.
– Jags QB Chad Henne is no Joe Montana, but he’s much better for Cecil Shorts than Blaine Gabbert.
– MJD just doesn’t look the same. I was high on him going into the season, but it looks like another injury-plagued year.
– Until we’re shown otherwise, Knowshon Moreno is the lead back in Denver. Sorry Montee Ball owners.
– TE Julius Thomas is more than a one-game wonder. Manning loves him.
– We love Giants WR Rueben Randle, but as long as Eli Manning is inconsistent, so will be his fantasy output.
– Until Percy Harvin gets back, I don’t there is a Seattle receiver worth playing week to week.
– Frank Gore’s lack of yardage is concerning, but I actually think now is a great time to buy low on him. Harbaugh won’t stray too far from the running game.
– Giovani Bernard impressed last night, but he still played only 29 snaps to the Law Firm’s 50.
– I guess A.J. Green isn’t matchup proof.
– The Steelers run game makes me want to puke. There’s no point in owning anyone other than Le’Veon Bell from that squad.
– Woe to those who chose Antonio Brown as their number 1 receiver in their leagues – Emmanuel Sanders seems to be the exact same guy as Brown.
