RosterWatch Week 10 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2017 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Lions TE Eric Ebron, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Lions (Ebron’s team). You will see that the Lions opponent (OPP) is the Browns in Week 10, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Browns’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Lions, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Browns). In the “OPP vs. TEs” cell for the Lions, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Ebron faces the best possible matchup for opposing TEs in Week 10 (the Browns). This is a great indicator for owners of Eric Ebron and Darren Fells and is a positive for those thinking of rostering either of them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

COLOR-CODES

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

  1. Should I own Sterling Shepard or CDavis as my 3rd WR going forward in a PPR?
Maclin ahead of the 2 above?

Goff or Rivers as my QB 4 point pass TD

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

All very close. I’d rather have Shep and Davis, but understand if you need Maclin now as a play- but he’s on bye so.

      Goff this week

    What’s up RW
16 team standard 6-3. And unfortunately trades are tough to come by.
I need 2 RB and a flex from:
CJA, Forte, D Henry, Foreman, Drake, K Allen, and C Davis

I’m leaning definitely on playing Forte but I’m having a tough time this week on who else to play. Thanks guys

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      Prob Drake and Forte

  3. Need 1 PPR
    Funchess
    Fuller
    Davante Adams
    Aaron Jones
    Rishard Matthews
    Marqise Lee

Trade away Tyreek for Crabtree and Aaron Jones? PPR

    1. Trading those two Wrs has to hurt your Wr core. I am not sold on Jones and see a time share forming with Montgomery. I would not make that trade.

  5. Hunt on bye. Who would you start next to the sweet Lamborghini this week:
    Prosise, Ameer or Aaron Jones?
Leaning C.J. Prolly will drop Ameer he stinks!

    1. I worry about Prosise this week. We have no idea what his workload will be like. I would roll with Jones.

      1. I’m feeling C.J. tonight son! It’s 14 team ppr. Jones is just as risky right now.
Anyone else onboard the C.J. train? Ha.

        1. I am totally on the CJ train. I just dont know if I can trust him tonight. I wanna see how the backfield plays out before Im confident in starting him. I know Jones will get around 15 touches. Im not sure the same can be said for CJ.

  6. Start R Wilson or M Stafford? Stafford with much better matchup but Russ has been great for me.
Pick one of I Crowell, D Henry, D Lewis, or D Parker as my 2nd flex.
    Thanks, you guys are great.

Stafford has been playing at a really high level lately, and it’s hard to ignore.

      I’d say Parker.

    2. Parker is definitely the flex play. Stafford has a very nice match up this week. I think I would roll Stafford this week.

Matt Ryan or Jared Goff this week? Close in the matchup tool, going on feel here since Ryan might still be in a class above Goff, although I’m not sure why…

    1. Ryan by a hair this week

Thanks. Cheat Sheet has me as the highest scoring team in the league but I haven’t had 20pts from a QB all year, averaging 13.22 at that spot and been outscored there by 122 on the year! Crazy, considering I have Ryan and Cousins. Rode Ryan too long and have chosen matchups poorly since. Looking to breakthrough finally this week, keeping 3 QB’s on the roster.

    2. Always trust your gut. Its normally right.

Funchess or CJ at Flex? Like Byron, I believe CJ at home is typically an every week play, and his matchup with the Patriots is very favorable. But this RBBC has me a bit cautious.

Samuel did receive 5 targets hauling in 4 in his first game w/o Benjamin, while Funchess hauled in 5 on 7 targets in same game. Not sure if I should be concerned about Samuel or not?

    Thoughts?

  9. funchess, especially if ppr

  10. Trade ?: I can get McCoy for D Parker and M Thomas.
    I have the following:
    RB1 Hunt
    RB2 Mixon
    WR1 A Brown
    WR2 Dez

    Should I do it

    1. Yes. I was trying to trade Thomas and Mixon for him but I have not had any luck

  11. 1pt ppr. 2RB’s and 3WR with no flex

  12. PPR DYNASTY. We keep 11 players and have 10 bench spots. 2 qb league. lost desean watson.. now am rolling with brady, cutler and i picked up fitzpatrick. we start 2qb 3rb 3wr 1TE 1DEF. and a flex. my current roster, hunt, bell, hyde, mixon, mckinnen, damian williams. d.hopkins, crabtree, cooks, devante parker, robby anderson, sanu, robert woods. i can get derrick carr for mixon straight up. OR i can trade crabtree for josh mccown and then trade mixon for doug baldwin. is it worth getting carr? i dont feel good about rolling with cutler as my #2 down the stretch. or MAYBE i can trade damian williams for carr. the carr owner is in desparate need for a rb this week.. opinion?

    1. Carr is totally worth getting. He has a nice schedule going down the stretch. Not sure Mixon is worth giving up on in his rookie year though.

  13. Help please.

    10 team PPR.

Pick two of three RBs to start this week:

    L Fournette, M Gordon, A Kamara.

    Thanks.

    1. Post By Kwillee@hotmail.com

One could make the case to get cute with Kamara but it’s times like these I always say start your studs!

  14. Yep gotta sit kamara. Always start your studs. If you can only play two rbs you might want to package him for a stud wr.

    1. Thanks. Thinking about doing just that!

  15. Trade question: Being offered M. Thomas NO straight up for M. Evans TB: 12 team PPR league: 6-3-0 right now
    My Team:
    Brees/Dalton
    Gurley/Hunt/Kamara
    AJ Green(acquired in a trade 3 weeks ago-no benefit yet)/M. Evans/M. Crabtree/P. Richardson
H.Hunt/OJ Howard-(will be gone after this bye week)
    Tucker/Succop(flyer this week)
    Bears

    Yay or Nay?

Do not like trading straight across 1 for 1 in the same position. This one really is equally mentally challenging in that two top wr1s who have underperformed so far this year. Every week I have felt this is the week they both get going and BLAH!!! I have both on one of my teams. I would say look at both schedules going forward then do 3 shots of bad tequila and then take a couple aspirin before bed because either way I think your head is going to hurt! Personally you could say that Thomas has the better qb but NO is winning differently this year by pounding the ball and playing D. On the other side it seems like TB is going to be playing from behind a lot. You see what I mean about headaches??? On a positive note… The U is back baby!!! LOL

    1. Thanks for the feedback! I didn’t make the deal…..we’ll see how it plays out!

And yes, it looks like they are back! Reverse jinx????
