RosterWatch Week 6 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Falcons TE Austin Hooper, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Falcons (Hooper’s team). You will see that the Falcons’ opponent (OPP) is the Cardinals in Week 6, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Cardinals’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Falcons, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the CARDINALS). In the “OPP vs. TEs” cell for the Falcons, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Hooper faces our best possible matchup for opposing TEs in Week 6 (the CARDINALS). This is a great indicator for owners of Hooper and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup rankings can shift through the week with line and O/U movements as well as injury news.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

Gentleman, Thnak you for all you do!
    12 team standard

    Should I,
    Give up: Shady and Golden
    Receive: OBJ

I’ll only have Conner, Cook, Samuel and Mattison as my only backs.

    1. Worth a shot if you need to change your team dynamic.

Well got screwed on the waivers this week for TE since I have Waller on Bye. Which TE should I pick up and play. Witten (already have Amari Cooper) Hockenson, Vance McDonald, Vernon Davis, Noah Fant.

    1. I’d go Witten or McDonald

      1. Post By rickymurawski@gmail.com

Im going with Vance, how come you dont like that Noah Fant matchup?

    Trade, full point PPR.
    Tyreek/Cooper for Barkley/Gallman and Edelman

    My team after trade:
    Murray
    Zeke
    Barkley
    Godwin
    Edelman
    Hooper
    Fournette

Update: Cooper/Fournette for Barkley/Gallman and Edelman

  4. I got an embarrassment of riches thanks to trading with some chicken littles. PPR start 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and 2 flex spots. Right now I have Chubb and Kerryon at the RB spot, Julio and Amari at the WR, Kelce at the TE, and then Kittle and Chris Carson at the flex. This leaves Lockett out. Should I tweak this or set it and forget it. The TE matchups arent great according to the tool but those are plug and play guys.

Really the main question here I think is Carson vs. Lockett. Can we expect the Browns to be better against the run than the pass or vice versa? Curious of your thoughts. Thanks

    1. SEA @ CLE – 15-20mph sustained wind, gusts close to 30. Some impact to passing / kicking.

    2. I think you’ve got it right.

  5. 12 team .5ppr 4-1

What do you think of AJ Geen as a speculative pick up in a trade?

My WR are Evan’s, Tyreek, DJ Chark, T Mclaurin, C Samual.

Would you trade C Samual and Herndon? If he holds firm, would you trade Mclaurin? Or should I sit tight?

    Thanks for your insight.

    1. I would take that chance if you need the wr help. Haskins might sink mclaurin’s value for a bit

  6. .5 PPR

WRs are Godwin, Hilton, Hollywood, Jeffery, Golden Tate

Would you drop Alshon Jeffery for a guy like Preston Williams ? Currently Alshon is in my flex this week due to bye weeks and injuries.

    Thank you.

I’m currently 4-1, but both my WR and TE situations are starting to worry me a bit. What type of moves should I try and attempt?

    QBs: Mahomes, Murray
    RBs: Bell, Henry
WRs: Evans, Samuel, Kirk, John Brown, Preston Williams
    TEs: Howard, Henry
    K: Nugent
    DEF: Patriots

    1. Henry should be back soon, maybe week 7. I would try to consolidate that wr corps

  8. Standard league

    QB:Minshew
    RB: Chubb, Conner
    Wr: Thomas, Thielen
    TE: Andrews
    Flex: T Boyd

Bench: Marlon Mack, Miles Sanders, Shady, Tyrell williams, Mattison, Preston!williams, Snell

With Chubb and Conner both on Bye next week, would you offer a Conner/Boyd for Le’Veon deal?

    1. If you don’t need to start boyd. Not sure green will be back as soon as people think

  9. Own Edelman, PPR scoring:

Do I still start Josh Gordon in my flex, or Courtland Sutton against the Titans?

10 team 3 wr standard league

RB: Kamara, Fournette, Jacobs, Hyde, Coleman

WR: Julio, Desean Jackson, Curtis Samuel, Landry, Dorsett

Would you guys trade Jacobs and Landry for Devante Adams or Keenan Allen?
feel like I could use some WR help but also feel like I could have 3 running backs that finish the season in the top 10 of their position

  11. Post By mikemeyer10@yahoo.com

Hey Trashman, I traded Dak, Ju Ju, Devin Singletary and OJ Howard for Saquon, Duke Johnson, Josh Allen and Hunter Henry. Rest of my roster is ARod, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Gore, Julio Jones, Davante, Hollywood, Larry Fitz, Hock. Thoughts??

  12. 10 team .5ppr trade offer.
I get lev bell and micheal Thomas send out M Ingram, M Evans and Ridley ?

  13. Post By cbroenneke@gmail.com

PPR and 6 Point Pass TD

Trade Brady, Fournette, Amari and Hyde

    Get Rodgers, Barkley and Gallman

Leaves me with T. Hill, Godwin and J. Brown in the lineup at WR but gives me Zeke and Barkley at RB

    1. Post By cbroenneke@gmail.com

Also what do you think of Godwin for D. Adams or Hopkins straight up?

    2. No way that’s too much. Get rid of the fluff. Cooper and Fournette for Barkley. Keep it short and sweet.

Someone just dropped Robby Anderson today during the waiver period. Given that Darnold is coming back, I have the top waiver priority, and the Jets are going on an 8 week cupcake schedule,. Is Robby a player worth pulling that trigger on?

    1. Hell yes!

    1. See above

  16. Offer Chubb and Boyd for Saquon? Have plenty of wr depth.

    1. there’s a risk Barkley is returning too soon and could re-injure himself, but if you can take the hit, it could pay off.

  17. Somebody dropped Malcom Brown today and he is available. With Gurley injury, how much FABB to spend? $100 budget.

    1. you might be able to get away with 17% as there’s some uncertainty, but it may take 20%

  18. Was offered Rodgers and Shady for Mack and MVS. I have Goff currently and also David Johnson, Cook, Kerryon, and Coleman as other RBs. Does Rodgers get back on track enough to make this move?

    1. you can take the hit, and Rodgers has a nice schedule coming up. just realize he has chi and minn to end the fantasy season though.

  19. With the Gurley news, who’s the guy to grab as precaution…

    Malcolm Brown or Darrell Henderson?

Pro subscription has gotten me to 4-1. Lost last week by 1.77 due to OBJ stinker.

In a 10 man PPR, I was offered Marlon Mack for OBJ.

Current RBs: Fournette, Lindsay, Thompson, Armstead
Current WRs: Hopkins, Cooper, Godwin, Chark

    Deal worth taking? Thanks!

    1. You would still have Hopkins, cooper, Godwin and Chark? Yeah I would snap up on that trade if it were offered to me. I have OBJ in on of my 10 man leagues and I wish someone would offer me something decent for him.

    2. makes sense if you can start 3 rbs.

Was offered David Johnson and Chase Edmonds for Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman

My other running backs are Chubb Bell Chris Thompson

Mind you I traded John Ross for Freeman straight up the week before Ross was hurt and picked Coleman up when someone dropped him for a defense last week not like all that matters but for 2 players I didnt have to begin with to turn them into the ability to roll out chubb bell and dj also I have Kareem Hunt on IR since we can stash suspended players

    Current team is

    Matt Ryan
    Chubb
    Bell
    Kupp
    Edelman
    Golladay
    Ertz
    Freeman
    Tucker
    Chargers (I stream dst)

    Bench
    Sutton
    Thompson
    Gallup
    A. Tate
    Mark Andrews
    Stafford
    Coleman
    Vikings
    IR
    AJ Green
    Kareem Hunt

Close call- I like the way you are thinking —I think this depends on how much you like Tevin Coleman. The deal feels a little rich to me for DJ, esp with the back flaring up—would much rather see a deal for Kamara—- but can see where your head is at. This is a close call because: It probably improves your starting lineup , but not definitely — you probably have the flex depth to navigate the loss of two players through byes etc—- but it’s not the same elite depth you would have now in case of injury or bye and I’m not totally sure your starting lineup is better w/ DJ every wk vs matchup playing these other guys.

This really comes down to how much you believe this move improves your starting lineup—if it’s a somewhat marginal move I would lean towards rejecting esp since you will have to burn a roster spot on Edmonds. Put it this way– the DJ owner would probably love to pull off this deal

Pats have yet another cupcake opponent

I have a trade … I have Leonard Fornette he wants to give me Keenan Allen …

My receivers are Golliday, Chark, Diggs, Fuller, & M. Brown
My RBs are McCaffery Chubb fornette White

    PPR

    1. if you can start 3 rbs i don’t love it. fournette plus the upside of a fuller, diggs or brown makes up for a keenan allen a lot of weeks. if i were you, i’d be trying to pair diggs, fuller and or brown for a top tier wr.

  25. Post By Applethorne@yahoo.com

Thanks Trashman and I do have 2 flex spots I’m keeping Fournette

  26. Deshaun of the dead 3-2 lost 2 straight. PPR. Have Tyreek, Boyd and Gallup. Also Henry at RB (with David Johnson/Edmonds). I can start 1 RB and 3 WR (Hill Boyd and Gallup) or Hill and Gallup and leave Henry in. Thoughts/advice?

    1. Any thoughts?
