RosterWatch Week 9 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Seahawks WR DK Metcalf, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Seahawks (Metcalf’s team). You will see that the Seahawks’ opponent (OPP) is the Bucs in Week 9, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Bucs’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Seahawks, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the BUCS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Seahawks, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Metcalf faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 9 (the BUCS). This is a great indicator for owners of Metcalf, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him or other Seattle receivers in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup rankings can shift through the week with line and O/U movements as well as injury news.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Who do you like… DJ MOORE or Golden TATE in a PPR for ROS ? Moore had his bye. Tate bye week 11. Schedule seems to favour Tate slightly but Sheppard is back.

    1. like Moore better ROS.

      1. Lol too late guy retracted offer but thanks. He traded Moore and Mccoy for James White the Idiot

Sounds like you need to take advantage of this chicken little.

  2. In a 10 team league I have carried Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray on my team all year, now that Lamar is past his bye should I just drop Murray for bench room? They are pretty small benches and I looked all over for trade possibilities but in a 10 team league pretty much everyone has a capable qb

    1. I think it is fine if you feel you should, you certainyl don’t want to start Kyler this week.

Thinking about jumping up a half-tier at RB from Chubb to Cook. 10-team .5 PPR 2-RB, 2-WR, Flex.

    Send Chubb and Tyler Lockett
    Get Cook

RBs: Chubb, Fournette, David Montgomery, Mattison, Armstead, Samuels, Henderson
    WRs: Hopkins, OBJ, DJ Moore

His RB/WRs: Saquon, Coleman, David Johnson, Kareem Hunt, Marvin Jones, ARob, Brandin Cooks, AJ Green

Thoughts? I’ve been consolidating assets so far, so my bench is quite thin in terms of real trade value, but I still want to upgrade.

    1. He could use the wr help right now if he’s needing a win, but i’m not sure he’ll go for it. i’d give it a shot.

  4. standard. Would you trade away Sutton and jamaal Williams for Mike Evans? Ty!

  5. 10 team standard league. I’m 7-1 and looking at options for ROS. K. Hunt is available and expected to play week 10 (has pretty good match-ups through play-offs). Is he worth picking up as a stash or trade candidate? I’d be dropping Fitzgerald for him.

    1. yes, cleveland doesn’t have many weapons, and we know hunt is a beast. the speculation alone makes him a valuable trade commodity.

I have a four man bench in a superflex league full ppr. My RBs are CMC, Lenny and Sony and J.Williams. is Sony droppable if I need to make moves to fortify my roster? or Williams?

    1. i suppose sony is slightly more expendable considering williams’ recent production, but i’d try to trade him if i could before dropping him.

  7. My D Watson will be on bye in week 10, and I’m looking for his fill in using your match up tool. I have a few options on my current waiver wire. Would you go with Rivers against Oak, or Brissett against Miami?
    Thanks.

    1. I haven’t looked at all at WK10 matchups, but I’d probably lean toward Brissett just because it is Miami.

  8. WR/Flex (1/2PPR)- Need 2 WR and 1 Flex

Mike Williams, DK Metcalf, Kenny Stills, Christian Kirk, Carlos Hyde, and Mark Walton

Also, how do I upload a picture?

    1. I think I would go Williams Metcalf Hyde. Look at some of the other posts, Byron usually posts directions about how to upload an avi.

  9. PPR. Pretty deep at RB. Trade offer. Giving up Keenan Allen and Miles Sanders for Godwin and Westbrook?

    Thanks

    1. I think that trade is fine.

  10. Don’t want to start Kyler tonight against the 49ers but in a 14 tm league where people have 1-3 QBs so my only other options are Tannehill, Fitzpatrick, Matt Moore, Jimmy G or Mitch Trubisky (Kyle Allen and Rudolph also there). Who would you go with? Also don’t want to drop Kyler because of the matchup next week so it is a tough call.

    1. Like Jimmy G best of those options, agreed you should not drop Kyler.

  11. What team do you like the best:
    #1
    Barkley
    Chubb
    Lockett
    Woods
    Hollywood Brown

    #2
    Barkley
    Tevin Coleman
    Lockett
    Amari Cooper
    Allen Robinson

Bench is Singletary, Desean Jackson, Jaylen samuels, Mattison, dk Metcalf

    1. probably team #2 with those final two WRs. OBV a step down from Chubb to Tevin, but there needs to be some worry about how Chubb’s workload can shift when Hunt comes into play.

Which one to start: Robby Anderson vs Christian Kirk? 0.5 PPR

    1. Post By jhaschke50@hotmail.com

Forgot about this extra for my FLEX. So this is my real choice. 0.5 PPR

Robby Anderson vs Christian Kirk vs holding out for Jaylen Samuels?

      1. If we get Samuels, he is the must-play. Otherwise, it’s finally a Robby Anderson week for me.

  13. Little Dilemma for tonight
    Record 3-5
    Team name: DoNotPassToBobby
I have Coleman and Breida on my team and a very small bench with M. Thomas (Bye), D. Freeman (Bye), D. Johnson (Probably not playing), and C. Ridley (Bye). Do I drop Breida since he may not play and pick up (best options on the waiver wire): Amendola, Conley, A. Mattison, F. Gore (clears waivers on 11/2), A. Peterson OR do I just bite the lost spot if Breida doesn’t play and hope for the best?

    1. answered in the other post.

  14. PPR. Team after me for McCaffrey. I have Chubb, Carson, Mack, Sanders and Hunt. He’s desperate. Hopkins/Godwin worth giving up the cheat code for?

    Thanks

    1. you can definitely take the hit. Godwin is the highest scoring WR in the league right now, so that’s about as good as you’re going to get wr wise.

Great job guys! 2nd year as a member and in pretty good shape in 4 out of 5 leagues. I appreciate the content. I just had two suggestions if y’all were open for it. Would there be any way to add to the matchup tool? I would like to see it broken down more into teams with ranked matchups against primary receiver, secondary receiver, slot receiver, etc..
Also would be nice to have a DFS cheat sheet for the TNF, SNF, and MNF games. Just some ideas to toss around for next year. I plan on returning regardless.
