*****As a reminder, we always recommend using the Cheat Sheet in conjunction with the Vegas Tool once it is published Saturday evenings as Vegas almost always identifies a few value plays who aren’t necessarily on the sheet, but may provide excellent flexibility cap-wise. Sometimes we will update the sheet through the weekend as information comes in from injury reports, Vegas or elsewhere*****

HOW DOES THE SHEET WORK?

THE GOAL of the sheet is to reduce the number of players for the weekly slate to players expected to generate Positive Surplus Value (fantasy points over salary expected points). The player pool is narrowed down to players who meet a minimum number of trends.

THE TRENDS are a series of pass/fail threshold tests of position-specific stats predictors. Through the use of predictive models, we have analyzed every predictive metric we could for each position related to Vegas Indicators, Unit Matchups, Individual Matchups, Historical Performance, Game Script, Weather, and so much more.

Using a non-linear model, we’ve found BASELINES for each metric. For each baseline TREND TEST, if the player passed, he receives a [+1]. For example, using the Matchup Tool Rankings vs. QBs, the model found that an Opponent Ranking ranked in the bottom (9) teams allow on average +3.7 surplus points to opposing QBs. If the QB’s matchup is ranked worse than the baseline, the QB receives [+1] trend. In addition to positive trends, negative trends are also included. The model found that the top ranked pass defenses vs. QBs allow on average -5.4 surplus points.

THE ORDER is determined first by position Salary Tiers, then by Total Trends. The salary tiers are colored by BLUE (High-Priced), RED (Mid-Range), PURPLE (Higher-Risk Bargains).

HOW TO USE THE SHEET

Choose the players from the sheet you like best. Mix-and-match them to create your personal, optimal lineup. It’s that simple.

Take note of projected ownership percentages when putting your team together. In 50/50, Double-Up and head-to-head contests, there is nothing wrong with rostering players who project as popular choices across the board. However, in larger field tournaments, it is always wise to differentiate from the public with a few lower-percentage plays and/or stacks.

The Vegas Tool will be out before the main slate occurs.

  1. With E Sanders injury, B Fowler or
    J Doctson ? .5 PPR

My WR. Julio, Diggs, Martavis & Doctson.

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Very close call. I want to say Doctson, but after being at Broncos camp for 2 yr- we know Siemian loves Fowler. I’d take my chances with him if Sanders sits.

    Hey guys,

I have quite a dilemma this week. I’m in a 12 team league with unique scoring:

    2 PPR
5 points for every 20 yards combined rushing/receiving, beginning at 50 yards (you get zero points for yardage if you don’t hit at least 50 yds)
15 points for every TD under 21 yards
30 points for 21-40 yd TD
45 points for 41-60 yd TD
60 points for 61-80 yd TD
75 points for 81+ yd TD

Assuming that D. Murray does NOT play this week, which TWO of the following would you play? (note I am going for the homerun as I am down big in this league):

    Mixon @ PIT
    D. Henry @ CLE
    Kamara @ GB
    Coleman @ NE
    Cohen vs CAR

My initial thought is to go with Kamara and Coleman as they have the speed to get the big points, but would love your insight!

      Jeez, this is cockamamie.

You need a good floor, ppr potential, and big play upside-

If Murray sits, you prob have to roll Henry. I’d say I’m prob in on Coleman for the other.

  3. 1WR 1 Flex PPR
    D Jax
    Funchess
    Pryor
    Darkwa
    McKinnon
    Dion Lewis
    Sanu

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      Yikes- prob Pryor +

McKinnon or Darkwa. Djax and Dion obviously in play if you’re feeling a bit trickier, flat goosey on those tough matchups

  4. 10 team league. someone dropped Derrick Henry. Should I drop DJax to pick him up? That would leave me with only my 2 starting WRs, Julio & AJ Green. Both have had bye weeks so barring injury, I should not need another WR but there are some middle of the road free agent WRs still available if needed. My RBs are Lev Bell, Zeke, Fournette, Martin, Morris, & McFadden. Or should I drop 1 of the Cowboys RB backups?

    1. Post By Kwillee@hotmail.com

Do you feel lucky… well do ya?????!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen it is time to gamble! Drop one of the Dallas backups and grab Henry!!! Even if it is not this week I think it is but a matter of time til Murray blows a tire permanently.

    2. Post By Byron Lambert

Dude, drop a Cowboys RB. Don’t drop DJAX

  5. Question for someone from Rosterwatch please

Dynasty league- 12 team standard scoring. I’m 4-1
    trade question-
He offered Dez Bryant $49 for Davante Adams $19 and Will fuller $6. I’m basically buying Dez for a year or two to help put me over the top for chance at a SHIP this year.. is it worth it?
    My team
    Qb- Cam/Russell Wilson
    Rb- Hunt/Mixon/Martin/A jones/D Lewis/McGuire
    WRs-Diggs/Benjamin/Adams/Fuller/Emmanuel
    Te- Ertz

FYI- he also has Michael Thomas for $23 I could try and trade for?

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Super close call. I might prefer Thomas. Your WR are good now- so it’s not clear this makes you better every week than if you just made the right matchup plays with this crew every week.

Dez just makes the decision a bit easier every week. Fuller is a nice dynasty asset. Don’t care about Adams. Close call with Dez. Gun 2 head – I’d prob do it.

      1. Post By Kwillee@hotmail.com

See what I was talking about In the email Byron…

  6. Rivers or Dalton?

1 ppr. Derrick Henry or TY Hilton?

1 ppr. Derrick Henry or Funchess?

    Thanks gents!!

  7. That’s a tough spot for your qb. I think I would go dalton. Rivers got lucky in his first game vs Denver and converted to short fields into tds to save his day. Last I heard Murray is a game time decision so you want to keep an eye on that. Henry will get his no matter what but he will be in a much better spot with no Murray. If Murray plays I would go funchess if he sits I got Murray.

  8. 12 team standard
Starting WR: Alston Jeffries, Brandin Cooks, and K. Allen
I’m 2-4 need a win badly. Should I sit Allen for T. Gabriel, M. Sami, or B. Fowler?

    1. Sorry autocorrect M. Sanu

    2. Post By Kwillee@hotmail.com

Check the injury report in the morning as Allen landed on it yesterday!

  9. Lost Arod at QB and now I’m scrambling. “We’re on to Streaming QBs”

Standard League. 4 points per Passing TD. 1 point per 25 pass yards.
Start Brissett or Siemian this week?

  10. Post By Jrs333@sc.rr.com

    14 team Full Point PPR

Doug Martin or Jimmy Graham at Flex

    Hunley or Taylor at QB

  11. Post By Jrs333@sc.rr.com

    Rest of Season.
    Full point ppr

    Dez of Fitz?
